The outdoor unit is the part nobody looks at. The indoor head is the part you live with, so here is where we have put it in real houses: on a plain wall, in a corner, above a window, and flush into a ceiling.
Every photo is from a system we installed. Placement is decided at the in-home assessment: we look at where the air needs to go and where the line set can run without cutting through the room.

Can you run concealed ductwork instead of a wall unit?
Yes. We have fitted concealed mini-splits with ductwork, including in a shed being converted into an office.
